Keurig K50 vs K55 which one should you buy?
The K50 and K55 are the two low end single serving brewers from Keurig. They are perfect for small kitchens in an apartment that is short on space.
If you are looking for something a little larger check out the Keurig k475 or K575 which can make up to 12 ounces or larger carafe sizes. Or for something in the middle the K200 or K250.
Keurig are almost famous at this stage for having so many models of different brewers throughout their range that is has become quite confusing.
The K50 and K55 are no exception.

Lets take a quick look at each model in a little more detail.
KEurig K50 Review
The Keurig K50 is one of the best selling single serve coffee makers out there. It using Keurig’s K-Cup pod system.
The K-Cup line of pods has a huge range of different brand name coffees available and many varieties from each brand. They are quick and simple to use and are virtually mess free.
The K50 has a 48 ounce reservoir which in real terms means you should be able to brew about 6 cups of coffee before needing to be refilled.
If can make three different sizes of 6, 8, 10 ounces. If you want your coffee to be strong then choose the 6 ounce. If you want to be able to choose the strength of each cup regardless of which pod you are using then the K200 or K250 for that functionality.
One average the K50 takes about a minute to both heat the water from the reservoir and to actually make the brew.
All things considered the K50 is simple, easy to use and brews a pretty decent cup of coffee. The K-Cup range is also quite large so you can experiment to find that perfect roast just for you.

Keurig K55 Review
The Keurig K55 is the next generation K50.
It has slightly different dimensions of 13.3 height x 10.1 wide x 13.2 inches deep compared to the K50’s 13 height x 9.8 wide x 13.3 inches deep. So it is almost identical in shape and size.
Although there is no variable heat control or anything fancy like that the K55 just like the K50 above does a programmable on/off feature so if the coffee maker is idle it can be set to switch itself off.
Unlike the K50 the K55 is not stuck using K-Cups exclusively. It is also compatible with the My K-cup reusable coffee filter. This is a great option especially if you prefer to grind your own coffee or prefer to buy a specialty grind that is not available in the K-Cup line.
You can also purchase the K55 with a variety starter pack of K-Cup pods containing twenty different varieties. The K55 is also available in a limited number of other colors.

Keurig K50 vs K55
Just exactly what is the difference between Keurig K50 and K55?
To be frank;Not much! The K50 is quite restricted in that it can only use the K-Cup pod system. With the K55 you have the added bonus of being able to use whatever freshly ground coffee or specialty grind you want to.
On just about every other feature they are fairly identical. It would cause a lot less confusion if Keurig just went ahead and retired the K50 altogether.
For that very reason alone we would recommend buying the K55 over the K50 every time.
