Slow Cooker Sweet n’ Sour Meatballs

I just love using my crockpot this time of year! I usually try to use it at least once a week. We also have been having a meatball obsession at our house lately! But these Sweet n’ Sour Meatballs are nothing like you would imagine “normal sweet n’ sour” is. I decided to try something a little different when the making the sauce!

These meatballs turned out so tender and so very delicious that you will want seconds!

Slow Cooker Sweet n’ Sour Meatballs

  • Meatballs
  • 2 lb. Ground Turkey
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Cup GF Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp. Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp. Cumin
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 Onion, chopped
  • 1 Cup Pineapple Chunks, drained
  • Sweet n' Sour Sauce
  • 3 tbsp. Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 tsp. Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp. Ground Ginger
  • 2 tbsp. GF Soy Sauce
  • 1 1/4 Cups Pom Wonderful Pomegranate Juice
  • 3 tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp. Water


In a large bowl combine the ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Roll the mixture into meatballs.

Place the meatballs in a single layer onto the bottom of a greased crockpot.

Prepare the sauce by whisking together the maple syrup, salt, ginger, soy sauce, pomegranate juice, and apple cider vinegar. Pour the sauce over the meatballs. When the meatballs are no longer pink, add in the pineapple chunks and onions. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.

About 30 min. before serving, mix together the water and cornstarch in a small bowl. Pour this mixture into the crockpot and stir. Cover and allow the sauce to thicken.

Serve the meatballs over rice or pasta.
