Extra Crispy Tilapia

My favorite kind of fish is any kind of crispy fish. Ever since I became Gluten Free, I’ve been trying to perfect my recipe for crispy fish, and usually it turns out soggy or not crispy at all. But I think I finally found the magic formula!

On the side we had some left over Pumpkin Mac & Cheese.

Extra Crispy Tilapia

  • 2 Tilapia Fillets
  • 4 tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 2 Cloves of Mashed Garlic
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Paprika
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • 2 tsp. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tsp. Grated Lemon Zest
  • 1 Cup GF Breadcrumbs (I usually make my own)
  • Lemon Slices for garnish

Place the tilapia in a ziploc bag. Add 2 tbsp. olive oil, mashed garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, lemon juice, and lemon zest to the ziploc bag, and marinate for at least 2 hrs.

In a dish, mix together the breadcrumbs, salt, paprika, and pepper. Dredge the tilapia in the breading.

Add olive oil or coconut oil to a pan over medium heat.DO NOT ADD THE TILAPIA  TO THE PAN UNTIL THE PAN IS WARM. Pan fry the tilapia for about 4 min. on each side or until golden brown.

Serve with lemon wedges.

I’m not a fan of fish or pumpkin (I’m so boring!) But my sister loves both. I’ll definitely send this her way!

I am not a big fish eater, but this sounds well seasoned. I don’t think I’ve had any crispy before!

I love crispy fish too!!! Your tilapia looks delicious! Here’s a fun tip for you – if you take the skin of an oily fish – say, salmon – and make sure to scrape off all of the flesh, so it’s just skin, then brush lightly with olive oil and then broil (on high) or roast (at 400) in the oven for 15-30 min (depending on how close the skin is to the heat source), until the skin is crackling, bubbly, and crisply browned, just like a potato chip. It tastes amazing, and it’s such a textural treat if you plate and serve the fish with the skin lying lightly on top. :9
