Notice anything different? The Kitchen Revival is going through a makeover! Which is why I haven’t posted anything all week. I was focused on the makeover and making sure that everything was working and looking like it should. The makeover isn’t 100% complete, it’s a work in progress!
Have you ever had an idea for a recipe in your mind and the way you envision it, you hope that it turns out exactly how envision it?
When I was creating this recipe I had a picture in my mind of how I wanted it to look, how I was hoping it would look. But I knew that even if it didn’t turn out how I wanted it to look, I knew that it would still taste delicious.
But I hade to improvise on a couple of things within the recipe. Originally my plan was to use Green Tea Powder, but there wasn’t any grocery store in town that carried that! Boo!!! So I just used 2 tea bags instead and it still turned out how I was hoping!
This Chocolate Almond Green Tea Smoothie is very satisfying and of course delicious!
Chocolate Almond Green Tea Smoothie
2 tbsp. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
2 tbsp. Maple Syrup or Honey
2 Cans Chilled Coconut Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1/2 cup Coconut Water (you can use the coconut water from the bottom of the coconut milk can)
1 tbsp. Match Green Tea Powder or 2 tbsp. Cold Green Tea made with 2 Green Tea Bags
1 Avocado, diced into chunks
Handful of dried dates
Handful of Almonds
In a saucepan, stir together the cocoa powder, maple syrup, 1/3 cup canned coconut milk. Cook over medium heat until the chocolate is melted. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Stir to make sure the mixture is smooth.
In a blender, combine 1/2 cup coconut milk, 1/2 cup coconut water, green tea powder, avocado, banana, medjool dates, and almonds. Blend until mixture is smooth and creamy. If mixture is too thick, you can add more coconut water.
Drizzle the chocolate mixture into the glasses. Top with the blender mixture.
